Within the article, "Big Protests in South Africa Force Ramaphosa to End London Visit" posted by the New York Times it started off with discussing how the new president Ramaphosa had to leave his trip early. Do to current protests going on in South Africa the president was forced to leave early. The purpose of this trip to London was to meet with potential investors to help with his country's corruption and "restore faith in public institutions". Ironically, later in the article it talks about the protestors and their reasoning which was for better housing and other improvements. From the protesting going on he was not able to get the financial support that he originally went to London for. While, in London the president was making plans to meet with Queen Elizabeth II and the prime minister of Britain. Additionally, he planned on raising $100 billion over the next five years for his country. While, $100 billion is the goal, in the past they have lost $4 billion from state coffers.
