"In a New Cold War With Russia, Balkans Become a Testing Ground" Post by Kostantin Taseva

In the article "In a New Cold War With Russia, Balkans Become a Testing Ground" Steven Erlander offers a different outlook on the recent conflicts between Britain and Russia, by bring the Balkans into the conversation, More specifically, he points out that now when Great Britain has voted in favor of the Brexit and Russia expresses its interest into this part of Europe, the counties located on the Balkans are an important factor that should not be disregarded. More specifically, since Serbia, Montenegro, Bosna and Herzegovina along with other counties not yet members of the European Union, are working hard to be accepted, Erlander points out that now they serve as a testing ground between Russia and the UK. However, since  Bosna and Herzegovina has not yet recovered from the way in 1992 and the other counties also have difficulties to overcome their internal problems with corruption achieving this goal can become a possibility in the new future. In spite of them not being ready, the fact that both Britain and Russia are interested in this region influences Brussel to develop a detailed plan about the Balkans, and therefore in a way to gain control over the situation.
