Saudi women attend soccer match for first time

In what seems insane for Westerners, for the first time ever women in Saudi Arabia were allowed to attend a professional soccer match. Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced back in 2017 that he would be instituting policies and declarations pushing back against the strict laws put into place to suppress women in the past. Saudi Arabia is known as one of the most by the book followers of Sunni Islam in the world but has recently seen a greater liberalized push for the rights of women.

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia also wants to provide more governmental access to women and youth, and also provide them with more lucrative job opportunities. It will be very interesting to if this trend is able to continue for the rest of Sunni law following Middle Eastern countries as it seems as if they are learning from the trends within Western cultures. Perhaps with the advancements and technology and resources in the world, countries within our world are becoming more and more alike.
