Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader (D-N.Y.), reported today that he would officially introduce legislation that would ultimately de-criminalize Marijuana. Schumer believes that the right to the use, possession, and distribution of this drug is a basic freedom that Americans deserve to have. Stating that he has seen "Too many people" be unfairly effected by the criminality of this drug, Schumer promises to increase this "Long Overdue" accessibility of Marijuana. The big distinction between these statements and his (and many others) previous agendas is that he wants this legislation to be change/created at a federal level, as opposed to being done at a state level.
