Emily Knutson. Climate Change: Belgium Students Skip School to Demand Action

Students in Belgium are skipping school every Thursday to protest climate change in Brussels. They are getting punished, but they feel it is worth it to protect their futures. They say there is no point in sitting in a classroom for eight hours if the planet is dying. The organizers of the protest got there inspiration from a fifteen year old girl in Sweden who spoke of the dangers of climate change at a conference. Young people are realizing that we are going to be the ones to live with our parents' mistakes.
