Syria war: 'IS suicide bomber' kills US troops in Manbij

This article, published on January 6th, discusses the suicide bombing in Manbij this past Wednesday. An IS militant detonated an explosive vest near a US patrol. The explosion lead to the deaths of two US soldiers, a civilian employee, and a contractor. Three US soldiers were wounded and there were reports that 36 people were killed or wounded in total. Trump remains firm on his withdrawal of American troops from Syria, however, some worry that leaving will only cause a resurgence of IS attacks.
