Chad and Israel Sign Partnership Deal
Reagan Quynn
As part of a broader goal to improve relations with countries in Africa, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first Israeli premier to visit Africa in almost 30 years. This 2016 visit consisted of his visiting Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda. A more recent visit followed Chad President Idriss Deby’s trip to Israel in November making him the first leader of Chad to make the trip. The two leaders signed several agreements, though specific details of these agreements have not been released. Netanyahu describes the commitment to renewed diplomatic ties as “a partnership … to forge a prosperous and secure future for our countries.”
