Dhanya Sanal a southern Indian woman became the first woman to ever climb the sacred Agasthyakoodam mountain after a ruling from the high courts lifted the restrictions from women. Agasthyakoodam is about 1,868 meters high which is roughly 6,128 feet. Some locals are still in opposition to women climbing the mountain due to cultural reasons. More than 100 women have requested trekking licensure since the high courts' ruling. The rock phase of the peak used to have rare plants and herbs so men were to venture out and get them this tradition turned into women not being allowed to climb the mountain.
