Saudi Arabia to open up to foreign tourists with new visas

Griffin Curran

In an attempt to decrease their dependence on Oil Saudi Arabia has opened its country to international tourists. Until now Visas have been restricted to pilgrims, business workers, and expatriate workers. With its' five Unesco world heritage sites Saudi Arabia hopes to have tourism increase to 10% of its' GDP by 2030. This move by Saudi Arabia to open itself to the world not only demonstrates potential future pushes for globalization, but also that the world may be starting to move further away from its' reliance on fossil fuels.
