Spanish dictator’s remains can be exhumed


The Spain’s Supreme Court ruled last week that Franco’s body can be exhumed after some last months of division in Spain concerning to this issue. Currently, the body is located in The Valley of the Fallen, just outside Madrid. It is a controversial aspect the fact that many Spanish Civil War victims have their grave in the same site. Besides, political prisoners were the people in charge to build the mausoleum for the ruler. Likewise, Franco’s family ask to locate the his remains in the Cathedral of La Almudena, but the Supreme Court has rejected this appeal as well. Consequently, his remains will rest in peace in a cemetery located in the North of Madrid, forty-four years after of his death.
