The Spain’s
Supreme Court ruled last week that Franco’s body can be exhumed after some last
months of division in Spain concerning to this issue. Currently, the body is
located in The Valley of the Fallen, just outside Madrid. It is a controversial
aspect the fact that many Spanish Civil War victims have their grave in the
same site. Besides, political prisoners were the people in charge to build the
mausoleum for the ruler. Likewise, Franco’s family ask to locate the his
remains in the Cathedral of La Almudena, but the Supreme Court has rejected
this appeal as well. Consequently, his remains will rest in peace in a cemetery
located in the North of Madrid, forty-four years after of his death.
