The world wastes tons of food and a grocery ‘happy hour’ is one answer.

A grocery store in Helsinki, Finland is making efforts to help and try to reduce the amount of food waste that is thrown out. About one-third of produced or packaged food for humans is either lost or wasted and ultimately contributes to climate change. Landfills of rotting waste emit methane gas which 25 times more harmful than carbon dioxide. In order to reduce the amount of gas being released into the atmosphere, the S-market store has created a 'happy hour.' During this happy hour, foods are reduced in price by 30 or 60 percent. By doing this, they are hoping to decrease the amount of food waste they produce.
