South African Crowds Walk Out of Anti-Xenophobic Speech
South Africa has recently seen tensions rise between citizens and foreigners due to the former being upset about the high rate of unemployment in the country, and directing their frustration particularly toward Nigerian migrants. Mangosutho Buthelez, an South African politician, was giving a speech in Johannesburg in an attempt to mediate tensions when protesters started heckling him, and then continued to start a riot, looting stores and damaging other property. This event was following violent attacks against Nigerians in South Africa over this past week.
