Australian Leader urges Facebook to lift its new blockage - Palahniuk #3

Last Wednesday, February 17th the House of Representatives passed a bill requiring “Facebook and Google to pay Australian media companies fair compensation” for the journalism they share within the media's sites. In response to this new bill and potentially new law, Facebook decided to block any kind of Australian news within their platform from being shared. Whereas Google quickly bargained out a deal with Australian companies for licensing content deals. This helps Google not have to stress about the large costing bill but still allows them to make efforts to please the Australian companies. The actions Google took were a very good choice because now that the Australian minister proposed the New Media coding policy other countries, such as Britain, Canada, and France are looking to make a move into requiring this bill as well. The way Facebook handled this situation purposed an undesired threat to the friendly country of Australia and clarified Facebook's priorities of money over its people.
