NASA’s Perseverance rover beams back first images from its wild landing - Kyle Remington

On February 18th, 2020, NASA has successfully landed their Perseverance rover on the surface of Mars. The landing marks the end of a nearly 6 month journey of the rovers trip through space. NASA highlighted many important aspects of the journey including their new usage of cameras for this specific rover. Perseverance is the first rover that NASA has surfaced on Mars that will carry multiple high definition cameras and video recording apparatuses. On Friday, NASA released a handful of breathtaking photos from these cameras after the rover successfully landed. The rover is continuously taking photos of the red planet and scientists are currently poring through hundreds of images and are expecting to release many of them soon. The team at NASA plans to keep the public up to date with this mission by providing these high definition images and plan on including videos and audio within the next couple days.

The photos already have scientist asking all sorts of new questions about Mars geology and given the new tools and abilities of NASA's newest rover answers could come sooner than usual. It will be interesting to say the least what the near future of space exploration looks like and how this new multibillion dollar rover can answer some of humanities most compelling questions.
