Liberalism! The world is slowly becoming a better place! In this article, Slater reports that, as the title provides, India and Pakistan announced a cease-fire for the first time in nearly 20 years! The significance of this revelation is that these two countries are both equipped with nuclear arms. Realism brought these two countries to arm their selves with nuclear weapons but Liberalism motivated these two countries to agree to a cease-fire. Slater writes that citizens of Pakistan and India are mutually relieved by the cease-fire. People who live on the border of both these countries have witnessed dogfights first hand, and have lost friends and loved ones as a consequence of armed conflict. Everyone wins when countries mutually agree to lay down their arms and this cease-fire further reinforces the Liberalist argument that the world is slowly moving towards international cohesion and a newfound era of peace.
