The deadliest day of anti-coup protests began on Saturday as police were firing live rounds and tear gas on civilian protestors. There were at least 18 protestors killed during this deadly outbreak, which is very shocking as through the month of February, anti-coup protests have been majorly peaceful. The coup leaders took this act of violence as they see that the protests are not coming to an end. The United Nations Human Rights office condemns the violence against protestors because the people of Myanmar have a right to assemble peacefully and demand the restoration of democracy. Although there seems to be no help for the protestors, they remain defiant and refuse to let the military stop them from demanding democracy. So far there has been deaths reported in several cities including Myanmar, Yangon, Dawei and Mandalay. At the beginning of the coup, their leaders overthrew and detained Aung San Suu Kyi who is Myanmar's civilian leader that is trying to restore democracy. She has not been seen in public since the start of protests in the beginning of February. The military leaders who overthrew Aung justified it by alleging widespread fraud.
