For anyone with a pulse, the issue at the forefront of our minds has been COVID-19 and best practices for how to move forward with curing and overcoming the virus. There have been a lot of approaches taken by countries around the globe. Most countries shutdown their operations entirely and put restrictions in place to keep everyone locked down and in their homes to combat the virus and "flatten the curve". One interesting case study is how Sweden has handled COVID-19. Sweden has never shut down even at the height of the virus and at this point, will probably never shut down. Sweden has been under fire for this approach and has been the focus of much attention as vaccinations are getting rolled out. How will the country approach vaccinating their citizenry? Since the country never shut down, will Sweden even make getting vaccinated a priority? All of these are interesting questions to ask and I for one, am in favor of Sweden's approach to COVID-19. I do not think the world needed to be shut down on account of this virus and while I understand in the beginning we did not know what we were dealing with but after that first 2-3 week period when we had an idea of what was going on the world should have reopened and we should have moved on with our day to day existence. I support Sweden's approach to COVID-19 and it should be up the the individual what they do and do not engage in. We are all capable of making decisions that are best for us and do not need the government to baby sit us. Every human being understands the risk they are taking when going out in public and if they are willing to openly engage in social interactions and contract the virus then that is their choice and they should accept the consequences of their actions. I will be following Sweden closely and I think the rest of the world should take a look at what Sweden has done here and reevaluate if how they are handling this is best practice.
