On Thursday ISIS released a new
video showing a boy no older than the age of 10, shooting two men accused of being
Russian spies, execution style. The video is theatrically produced and has yet to be authenticated
by the press. ISIS has
featured children as fighters before, calling them the "cubs of the
caliphate," but this appears to be the first time ISIS has used a
child to carry out an execution. ISIS has been
specifically recruiting children through free schooling campaigns that include “weapons
training and have given them dangerous tasks, including suicide bombing
missions,” according to the Human Rights Watch. This is not the first time ISIS
has used shocking imagery of children, in August a man posted a picture on his
twitter which showed his 7 year old son holding a severed head, which was
reported to be in the ISIS-held town of Raqqa, Syria.
