New Congress divided over Iran sanctions, Guantanamo Bay, ISIS in Syria

There are many different world issues playing out today and these are the biggest ones up for debate in the U.S. congress: Iran sanctions, terrorist prisoners being released from Guantanamo Bay and the terrorist group ISIS making more headway into Syria. Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs believes that President Obama is not doing an adequate job when it comes to limiting the ISIS terrorist group from gaining ground in Syria. Johnson believes that ISIS thinks they are "winning" and until they think that they are "losing" we need to be concerned as a nation. He also brought to light the need for concern about "sleeper cells" in America and that there could be possible terrorist threats to our country just like the ones that just happened in Paris. However, Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin, a Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee believes Obama is doing the best he can when it comes to ISIS and that he doesn't think a ground campaign of troops is the answer just yet. Both senators did agree that the U.S. should impose stricter sanctions on Iran for not owning up to their agreement in limiting their nuclear power. Again though, both senators were split about the terrorist being released or transferred from Guantanamo Bay. Johnson believed that it was a mistake while Cardin thinks the president has it under control. I personally believe that we need to do a better job in limiting ISIS power across the middle east. I think it is pretty evident the power this terrorist group has and until we conquer and defeat them they will continue to be a worldwide threat. In regards to the prisoners being released or transferred I believe that was a mistake as well. Those people are the worst of the worst when it comes to humanity and if you transfer them to prisons in the U.S. or other U.S. prisons closer to the middle east (which I heard they might be doing) only increases the chances of more danger.
