Israel versus Palestine: Take Me to Court
Triumph and disdain were both felt Friday as Palestine brought charges against Israel via the International Criminal Court. These charges revolve around possible war crimes, most likely focused on the attacks and destruction from the 50-day Gaza War. Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda stated that the investigation follows required procedure, despite the claims of Israel's foreign minister Avigator Lieberman, who believes that Israel should not comply with the investigation and they should seek to disband the court, as he claims the court is anti-Israel. The charges were made a few weeks after President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority signed the Rome Statue, making them the 123 member of the ICC. The charges will be in preliminary investigation for months or years, giving the international community time to process the charges and the nonviolent conflict between these two states. -Kaytlin St.ClairArticle Link
