Mexico City Hospital Explosion

A gas truck driver and 2 assistants were arrested on Friday who were believed to be connected to the gas explosion that killed at least 3 people and injured at least 73 in Mexico City on Thursday. A gas tank being delivered to the kitchen-section of a maternity hospital caused the explosion. The hose delivering the gas ripped off, something caused a fire, and the building exploded. It is unknown if all the damage was caused by just the tank, or by other chemicals in the hospital. The truck driver was identified as Julio Cesar Martinez, and his two assistants were Carlos Chavez and Salvador Alatorre. A nurse and two babies were killed directly after the blast, and 20 newborns were part of the 73 injured. After the explosion, many people helped the victims by offering to donate blood and giving out bottled water to the victims. There was a call to the local fire station about a gas leak at the hospital minutes before the blast happened. Hospital staff were evacuating the building, but the explosion happened minutes later. The company that owned the truck, Has Express Nieto, has been supplying gas to hospitals in Mexico City for about 8 years. When I first read the news, I thought the blast would be connected to an attack by cartels, but this all seems just like it was a major accident. 70% of the hospital is destroyed, and the investigation of the blast will continue.
