The Little Girl Who Became a Bomber

A young girl walked into a busy market in Northern Nigeria, killing multiple people and injuring many more. The young girl who was 10 years old or younger, was a part of the Boko Haram terrorism group, the same group who was responsible for the kidnapping of the mass amount of girls last year. This group has been known to use women to carry out suicide bombings, but using a young girl as a bomber is not something that has been done before. Witnesses of this all together horrible event claimed the girl resisted security when she was spotted with an object under her clothes and the bomb then continued to explode.

Terrorism is being fought all around the world with many nations involved. With my understanding of realism, the most probable defense against terrorists would be to use power to overcome them. On the other side, an idealist would try to take a more moral and diplomatic approach to get rid of terrorism. In the case of the Boko Haram terrorism group, it is using the prevailing western idealist views to advance their agenda. If a realist were opposing the terrorists in this situation, he or she would try to stop the girl however possible using deadly force if necessary in order to maintain higher power and minimize the loss of life. An idealist would struggle to kill the girl before she accomplished the terrorist goal due to the sympathy derived from their moral backgrounds.
