At the oscars on Sunday, Will Smith walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about Smith's wife and her balding head. The next day the Academy said that there will be a review of the incident.
There will be a meeting of the governor's board which will happen on Wednesday. Usually after every ceremony there is an after meeting but it doesn't happen this soon. To define board of Governors, it directs the Academy's strategic vision, preserves the organization's financial health and assures the fulfillment of its mission. The people are apart of this board attend 6-8 meetings throughout the year. They also have to show up at a few of the academy events throughout the year as well.
Throughout the board there are 17 different branches, the actors, casting, cinematographers, costume design, directors, documentary, executives, film editors, makeup artists, hairstyles, marketing and relationship, music, producers, production design, short films and feature, sound, visual effects and finally the writers branch. And then each branch is made up of 3 governors.
It has been said that Will Smith face some consequences but the Oscar will not be taken from him. The extent of the consequences have not been stated, he could be suspended or expelled from the academy.
