Airline giant Delta warns oil increases mean higher ticket prices

In this article it talks about how the increase in oil prices can lead to a 10% increase in air fares. There already have been other airlines that have started charging "surcharges on their tickets to cover the higher cost of fuel". For Delta they are planning on raising both domestic and international flight charges. With international surcharges being higher than domestic flights. In some instances, many airlines "try to protect themselves from these changes by buying fuel in advance". I think that this was a smart idea if they bought the fuel before the sudden increase in oil prices because they bought it at a lower price than it is currently. With so much unpredictability going on, Delta has decided not to buy its fuel in advance. I think Delta also is right because you never know what can happen. One thing is for sure, and that is that airfare prices will see an increase this year across all airlines.
