Ahead of the Duke and Duchess's trip throughout the Caribbean and Central America, protestors in Jamaica demand an apology and financial compensation for Britain's slaveholding past. Protestors have gathered in the streets with signs and shirts shortly after major Jamaican leaders drafted a letter asking for such actions. This is not a new movement, as many have noted, and one that is sure to not happen if Jamaica decides one day to not pledge the islands allegiance to the crown and Great Britain. It is noted that Jamaica does not celebrate British specific events such as the Queen's Jubilee, but the two nations do have very strong trade partnerships.
