Hong Kong 'doubles down' on 'Zero COVID' Policy

Most of the world is beginning to learn to live with COVID, and at least for Americans, the news are beginning to die down on the coverage. Hong Kong is going through the opposite. The first two years of the pandemic, the city only suffered 213 reported deaths. Since the beginning of this year alone, the omicron variant broke loose in the once-protected city and caused the death of nearly 3,2000 people to date. Hong Kong's elderly population makes up most of the deaths, as there is a low rate of vaccination. China has sent in medical professionals and assists with the building of isolation facilities. Both locations are dealing with a serious wave, while the rest of the world is beginning to recover from their own.
