This article I chose to talk about this week is from U.S. News. The title of the article is “China’s Xi Calls for ‘Maximum Restraint’ in Ukraine” by Reuters. It was published on March 8th, 2022. This article talks about the President of China, which is Xi Jinping, and his call for maximum restraint in Ukraine. The President of China said he is “pained to see the flames of war reignite in Europe.” The President spoke with the French President about potential peace talks with Ukraine and Russia. China has refused to allow Russia’s actions to be okay even though they have had a lasting freindship. This article was very interesting because it discusses the conflict China is involved in right now with its ally invading Ukraine and China trying to find a way to remain Russia’s ally, but at the same time make it known they are not in support of Russia’s decision to invade Ukraine.
