Madagascans struggle through long drought

Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world, is suffering a severe drought that has turned its once green landscape hot and red. It has been nearly 4 hard years of drought, worsened by deforestation for resources and developments. Climate change is changing weather patterns which has severely damaged harvesting and farming patterns. Many people have turned to reducing kinds of cactus, as it is the only thing left to eat in such a dry environment. Malnourishment and starvation for children is at an all time high, as the World Food Program is feeding nearly one million people and counting. This is an issue that has not received much coverage or attention, but is intensifying.
