Ukraine's military has pushed back Russian forces east of Kyiv to 55 Kilometers from the city center. For weeks, the Russian forces have been kept at bay only 20-30 Kilometers from the center of the capital city. With Ukraine's troops pushing back Russia almost twice as far as they have been for weeks is a good sign. This is a sign of them possibly attempting (or succeeding) at taking back land that Russia stole from them. The U.S. assesses that Russian troops that have been put 12-15 Kilometers north of the city are putting themselves in defensive positions, so no more land can be taken.
