47 people including, 35 passengers and 12 crew, were forced to swim after their plane landed in a sea lagoon on a island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The Air Niugini Boeing 737-800 aircraft plunged into water after landing short of the runway. The flight was normally proceeded until final approach, when heavy rain suddenly deteriorated visibility. The aircraft managed stay afloat long enough for passengers to flee. Fortunately, because it happened during the daytime, within minutes, local fishermen could come to rescue every passenger. According to them, by the time they evacuate from the emergency exit, water reached up to their waist, and once the doors opened people rushed to get out. Then, they were sent to the hospital, and there was no serious injury reported.
