Despite no formal meetings currently being planned for NAFTA, an informal meeting to address urgent issues is quite likely on the sidelines of a UN meeting, according to Trudeau. Trump has made multiple threats to Canada, including excluding Canada from NAFTA and imposing a 25% tariff on Canadian auto exports. Trump has been demanding extensive changes to be made to NAFTA because he believes that somehow the United States has received the short end of the stick, despite evidence of the contrary. Canada is divided on the best way to address the issue with the U.S., but they hope that the U.S. can agree on a deal that'll benefit both groups. Trudeau says he wont sign any deal that isn't good for Canada.
