This article by the BBC discusses the Sinn Fein, a left wing political party in Ireland, chosen candidate to become their party's MEP for the Ireland South Constituency. According to the article, Ms. Liadh Ni Riada was chosen as their party's candidate in a meeting between the Sinn Fein and comhairle in Dublin (BBC). Ni Riada stated in address that Ireland will built upon the country's "glorious diversity". This includes equality and equity for women, men, citizens of various disabilities, the LGBTQIA community, and various other social minorities. The article later on stated that the Republic of Ireland has been hungry for a "political and social change", and that Ni Riada would be exceptional if she was elected as president for bringing about this change. According to the BBC, "...candidates need the backing of either 20 members of the Irish parliament or four local authorities." The election is to be held on October 26, 2018.
