New Zealand supermarket chain removes Australian strawberries after needles found

It's a sad day for Australia and New Zealand. It's ridiculous that people have to check their strawberries when buying them from the supermarket because there may be needles in a strawberry their child eats. There are at least a hundred reports of needles being found, supermarkets are putting out recalls as well as advising people to cut their strawberries before eating them. The question I had one reading this was who would do this and why? Was it a fear tactic? There is an explanation for why someone would put needles in strawberries but the Australian government has ordered a federal investigation. The Prime Minister also released a statement explaining how this wasn't a joke at the very least we should hope the Australian government will get to the bottom of it.
