In Poland, Malgorzata Gersdorf, a chief justice refuses to step down after the Polish president's new law lowers retirement age from 70 to 65. This new law will kick out 38% of the judges currently sitting on Poland's Supreme Court this year. Gersdorf is a judge who defies the law. Her decision has split the nation in two as one half supports her as a hero in keeping the court independent from a raise of nationalist behavior from Poland's now conservative government. The other half see her as rabble rouser who is pro-EU instead of pro-Poland.
