India Lifts Section 377

Earlier this month, India's supreme court decriminalized gay sex in one of the most progressive developments to happen in the world's largest democracy this year. Under the old British colonial law stating that any same-sex relations were considered "unnatural" and punishable with jail time. For hundreds of years members of the LGBTQ community were threatened with blackmail and prison because of who they loved. While the court's ruling is a huge step forward for India, there is still backlash from the socially conservative society of the country.
