An Undiplomatic Trump? At This U.N. Meeting, His Aides Fear the Opposite

In this article, it is discussed that Trump's senior aides are leery about Trump in the upcoming U.N. meeting. They believe that Trump will be almost too diplomatic. I didn't know that this was a bad thing. I always thought that we should be more diplomatic rather than always threatening to be the big and bad country we are always set out to be. Last year, Trump's aides were concerned with how he handled himself at the U.N. meeting, specifically with North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. However, this year Trump wants to take a different approach, he has already spoken to Kim Jong Un about the nuclear weapons. Now, he wants to have a meeting with the leader of Iran, Hassan Rouhani. Trump's aides are worried about this potential meeting because with North Korea, they had a willing partner in Kim Jong Un, but they will not with Hassan Rouhani. Therefore, Trump's initial plan to have the U.N. meeting about Iran like he had about North Korea last year will no longer happen. He wants to broaden the meeting of the U.N. to try and keep the peace. I believe that this is the right thing to do because there are other ways to handle cases such as Iran. I believe if Trump would have made the meeting all about Iran, demanding them of certain things, Iran would have responded very poorly to his remarks. Therefore, I also believe that the EU would not have been able to help Trump on this one because of the stake they have in foreign affairs with Iran. The link to the article is below:
