Gansu province, a northwestern Chinese province, had to shut down all of its tourist sites last Monday after discovering new Covid-19 cases. New cases have also been found in the Inner Mongolia region, which caused an order for residents of these areas to stay inside. With China having a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the pandemic, it is no surprise that they took extra precautionary measures to lower the risk of further spreading the Delta variant. The spread of the variant from travelers and tourists also pose concern for the Winter Olympics being hosted in Beijing, February 2022.
