Bushmeat poaching is on the rise in Kenya as Covid hunger drives hunt for antelopes and giraffes by Scott McLean, Bethlehem Feleke, Solomon Muingi and Fabien Muhire

After the Covid pandemic, every country has faced multiple and different consequence. In the case of Kenya, the poverty caused by the pandemic has provoked people to go back to haunting and poaching.  There has been a huge lack of tourist and people cannot afford food since many have lost their jobs. It is said that people are desperate and they need to eat. Despite the fact that pouching is illegal, the numbers are on the rise. People establish that poverty is not an exception in Kenya and everyone is suffering. All the poachers operate in secret because they have a normal life and are also struggling to put food on the table. There are people whom rather not take the risk to become poachers but since the economic situation is so hard, and providing for their families seems impossible, they might not have another option. People show what they are capable of when being in hard situations.
