A power outage in Lebanon left its population of 6 million people without electricity for 24 hours. In a statement issued by the state's electric company, it was said that fuel shortages led to the power outage. A $100 million credit was given to Lebanon by the central bank that will allow the country to buy fuel to keep its plants running. While this shutdown was the most publicized Lebanon has been dealing with this for months. Daily power outages, a banking and economic crisis, food shortages, overwhelmed hospitals, and a spiraling currency are all issues that Lebanon former, “Paris of the Middle East”, is facing. After the devastating Beirut Port explosion of August 2020, the economy has been in a downward spiral.
