Over $31 million in cash and cryptocurrency from 14 U.S. states and seven European countries was seized by counterdrug agents. The U.S. and Europe arrested a total of 150 people, 65 in the U.S. and 85 in Europe. Over a quarter ton of illicit drugs were seized from an operation intended to disrupt sales on the darknet. Fentanyl, oxycodone, amphetamine, cocaine, and ecstasy were sold from darknet accounts in Florida and Rhode Island. Anne Milgram, leader of the DEA, said “These are the drugs that are driving the overdose crisis in America, with 250 people dying each day,". The Department of Justice says that darknet drug sales are at an all-time high, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
