A group of rebels attacked a police post today in Muse, Myanmar.
Nineteen people are reported to have died from the attack and there are dozens
more injured. There is one police officer, several border guards, and civilians
that lost their lives to the attack. According to some reports, there is 29
people injured.
This is but one of many acts of violence that has occurred. According
to this article from CNN, “the Ta’ang National Liberation Army is one of more than
a dozen armed groups that have been fighting the government for more autonomy.”
The conflict between Myanmar’s government and this group is not a new
situation, it has been going on for decades. The struggles occurring in the
country affects thousands of civilians. The issues are increasing and about
6,800 people were relocated in April because of the violence, according to The
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
