White House national security adviser John Bolton said U.S. sanctions on European companies that maintain business dealings with Iran were possible, using a more affirmative tone to back his statement. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, said: “We are stakeholders” and will remain so, leading to German representatives to state that they are going to work with Washington to hopefully change it's mind on the Nuclear Deal, but also clarifying that should sanctions be implemented, it would be difficult to protect European companies.
“I
think at the moment there’s some feeling in Europe – they’re really
surprised we got out of it, really surprised at the re-imposition of
strict sanctions. I think that will sink in; we’ll see what happens
then,” Bolton said.
