With Demise of Nuclear Deal, Iran's Foes See an Opportunity, Others see Risk of War

 Kevin Druger

This article discusses the growing situation with Iran. It discusses how Iran wants to build infrastructure in Syria, and how the U.S. and more so Israel and Saudi Arabia are set against that. It talks about how Iran as a State has not been able to build and maintain it’s own military that would be any real cause for concern to the nations that oppose it ie: the U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia. But, it has been extremely adept at, using the instability in the region, influencing and forming sub-State forces, like Hezbollah through which they take action. The article discusses how Iran, through Hezbollah, can take military like action against Israel or Saudi Arabia. It also talks about how Iran is very good at spreading it’s influence by supporting other non-State groups. This strategy is a rather smart one for Iran, as the past has taught us it is difficult to fight or remove non-state actors. It will be interesting to see how the coming months play out in the region with Syria continuing to be the potential flashpoint that it is.
