As Vladimir Putin prepares for his 6th inauguration, many have flooded the streets across Russia in protest. At least 1600 people thus far have been arrested as a result of this protest, including Putin's opposing leader Alexei Navalny. Alexei Navalny is the leader of these protests. The protest slogan is "He is not our czar." It is kind of comical to me that that is their slogan, after people here in the US were protesting Trump's election into office with a similar slogan "He is not our president". While police were dressed in "riot gear" and were escorting people away from the protests that were demonstrators, there was no indication that they were trying to disperse the crowd and prevent them from expressing their opinions. Navalny was restrained and received a "disobeying the police" offense which typically results in about a 15 day sentence.
