Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, women in Iran were banned from watching men's soccer matches in the home stadium. On Thursday, the Iranian men's team played in Tehran in a World Cup Qualifying match. 3,500 women cheered on the team in Azadi Stadium as Iran beat Cambodia 14-0. FIFA pushed the Iranians to allow women to attend more matches following an incident in which a woman set herself on fire after being caught dressed as a man trying to get into a home soccer match in Iran.
