Iraqi protests broaden; violent crackdown spirals

The country's troops in Iraqi have been aiming to reduce anti-government protests by turning their guns towards the people. Six days of street protesting has challenged the already fragile government to resort to this method against the people. The government suspended the internet to prevent their voices from being heard. Protestors claim that security forces have used tear gas to stop the protests but this has ultimately made things far worse. Influential cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has demanded the government to resign its current leaders and called for early elections.
