US,Greece Sign a Revised Defense Cooperation Agreement

Us and Greece have signed a revised defense cooperation agreement that the two countries believe is necessary for stability in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The deal allows for increased joint US-Greece and NATO activity at Larissa, Stefanovikio and Alexandroupoli as well as infrastructure and other improvements to Souda Bay naval base in Greece. The deal was reached in wake of recent attempts by Turkey to drill for gas in waters where Cyprus has exclusive economic rights. During the talks for the agreement, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a trip to Greece where he was met by two protests in which one was orchestrated by pro-communist trade unions.
