Protests paralyze Catalonia

It is five days ago that Barcelona hold marches that have paralyze the city and the region of Catalonia. Spanish central authorities said 57 flights were canceled for the day due to a general strike called by pro-independence unions, after one member of the government has received the verdict that he should enter to prison. They have also closed off to traffic the border with France across the Pyrenees. The effects were also felt in major tourism landmarks. Architect Antoni Gaudí’s modernist Sagrada Familia closed its doors due to a protest blocking access to the basilica. Instability in the Catalan region has led to the postponement of next week’s soccer game between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
This is just one more chapter in the fight that Spain and Catalonia maintain since some years ago, and that in the last two has being incredibly strong.
