Thailand Judge Shoots Himself After Going Against the System

On Saturday October 5th, a judge from Thailand shot himself in court after criticizing the country’s court system.

Kanakorn Pianchana let five men free who were charged for murder. He called for a fairer jury. After reciting the legal oath and giving a passionate speech about a needed "transparent government", he pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the chest. Not many are sure why he did this, but it could show that there was interference in the result of the case.

A fellow judge commented that he might have been pressured to rule the men guilty even with lack of evidence. Even with this, the judge stated he would have done the same thing. He stated "[If] I cannot keep my oath of office, I'd rather die than live without honor."
