3 journalists killed in connection to the Taliban

 Three female journalists were shot dead in Jalalabad on Tuesday, March 2nd. Along with these three deaths, a fourth woman was also injured. The three women were recent high school graduates and between the ages of 18 and 20. This is all a part of a wave of killings among professional workers in urban centers. There have been shootings and small bombs and attached to vehicles targeting journalists, civil society workers, and mid-level government employees. The provincial police chief said that they arrested the suspected lead attacker and that he was connected to the insurgent TalibanThis wave of violence has taken place in recent months as the government and Taliban negotiators try to form a peace deal with the United States to withdraw some of our troops. These attacks are meant to intimidate the journalism community and make reporters cower. The culprits are hoping to stifle freedom of speech in a nation where media has grown over the past 20 years.
